Kokoda Beach Classic
The Kokoda Beach Classic is a mass participation beach charity running and walking event on the Gold Coast that comprises an Extreme Half Marathon, a 15km Ultimate Beach Run, a 10km Sand Challenge, a 5km Beach Dash, and a 5km Community Memorial Walk. An initiative of the Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport, with principle sponors Adrian's Metal Recycler's, the event focuses attention on those who sacrificed so much on the Kokoda Track in 1942, while it raises money for Soldier On, Legacy, and the Nippers of the Gold Coast.
The ASA All Stars entered the 2017 event as representatives of and in support of the Gold Coast RSL District Office. Debs, Po, Alexis and granddaughter Layla, joined Ken Orr and many other RSL members for the 5 km walk - with Po completing the 5 km dash first and then returning to complete the walk with the team. Such an event along the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast was of course spectacular - no shoes required and you can cool off in the surf at any time. A great event for people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities.
